The team at SCC is highly unique as many of the staff have worked together since the company began in 2009. With a deep understanding of the industry, its people and an ingrained respect for conservation and sustainability, all have a genuine passion for what they do.

Andy Roberts
Director/Guide
Andy grew up in Kenya, is a founder and Director of The Safari and Conservation Company. He was on the winning team that set the Guinness book of records for the most number of birds seen in 24 hours in 1986 with Terry Stephenson and John Fanshawe. A record which still holds today. Andy is a commercial pilot and has guided safaris around Kenya for over 30 years. With a good understanding of the country and the perils that face our wildlife, coupled with a strong sense of humour and a zest for life, going on safari with Andy is always an education as well as great fun.

Caragh Roberts
Safari Consultant
Caragh is a third generation Kenyan who grew up on a dairy and coffee farm bought by her grandfather in 1919. As a young girl she worked as a camp helper at Wilderness Trails on Lewa Downs in the 80’s to running mobile camps, and lodges before moving to Uganda and finally setting up and running Manda Bay with partners Fuzz and Bimbi Dyer in Lamu. Caragh now helps with planning, marketing and organising safaris within East Africa.

Fuzz Dyer
Director/Conservation Specialist
Fuzz is a third generation Kenyan who grew up on the slopes of Mount Kenya on his family farms - Kisima, Borana and Ngare Ndare. His brother Michael runs Borana Conservancy, and Fuzz works with The Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) in the Lamu region of the Kenyan coast and manages as well as hosts our lodge Manda Bay. Fuzz worked on Lewa Downs for 22 years and established the first black rhino sanctuary with Ian Craig and Anna Merz. Fuzz’s heart is in conservation and he brings a wealth of knowledge to the conservation world.

Bimbi Dyer
Manager of Laragai House
Bimbi is a third generation Kenya who grew up on sheep farm in Kipkabus, in Western Kenya. In 1976 her family emigrated to Andalucia in Spain from where Bimbi went to finish her education in the UK and stayed on to work in London until 1989. Fuzz and Bimbi ran Borana Lodge for five years before moving to Lamu in 2005 to develop their own tourism venture at Manda Bay. Bimbi and Fuzz now live on Borana, where Bimbi enjoys a home full of animals and livestock. She currently hosts clients at Laragai House and looks after the stables at Ngare Ndare.

Lillian Mwangi
Manda Bay Bookings Desk
Lillian joined us a couple years ago having had no experience in the tourism industry and reservations and she has taken on the job with enthusiasm. She is now well versed in the running the Manda Bay reservations desk as well as the reception desk at SCC.

Valerie Kemmey
Finance
Valerie is a highly experienced finance professional, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya with a double major Degree in Accounting and Finance. She has worked in financial management and ecotourism since 2005. Valerie joined the Safari and Conservation Company in 2009 as is the Financial Manager.

Hellen Omondi
Reservations
Hellen heads up our Reservations department. She began working for SCC in 2012 and is a key component in handling all bookings for the property portfolio. She has a number of close relationships with various companies in the industry ensuring her role is carried out smoothly and efficiently. Hellen holds a diploma and has spent time working as a community development officer and has a genuine interest in community development.

Alice Mwaura
Touring and Ground Handling
Alice is a certified accountant and secretary. She had experience in the finance departments of two other touring companies before joining SCC in 2009. She originally started in the finance department but quickly took on a role in touring. She currently manages all the ground handling and designs itineraries for prospective clients.
